El gobierno planea hacerse cargo de la Fabrica Militar de Aviones en Córdoba, actualmente en manos de la compañía norteamericana Lockheed Martin, y modernizarla para proveer servicios a la fabricante brasileña Embraer y a otras empresas privadas, señalaron fuentes del Ministerio de Defensa.
Oscar Quatromo, secretario de Planificación del Ministerio de Defensa, aseguró ayer en declaraciones radiales que el gobierno enviará en los próximos días al Congreso un proyecto para autorizar al Ministerio para adquirir las acciones de Lockheed Martin durante la segunda mitad del año.
“Este será el primer paso para la recuperación de la Fábrica Militar de Córdoba. Una vez que controlemos la compañía, comenzaremos un nuevo proceso de modernización de lo que fue alguna vez un ícono del desarrollo industrial argentino”, dijo Quatromo.
El Estado firmó recientemente acuerdos con Lockheed Martin para la modernización y el mantenimiento de aviones de la Fuerza Aérea, retomando también la producción del entrenador avanzado Pampa, señaló el funcionario.
Mientras tanto, el gobierno está llevando adelante negociaciones para proveer servicios a empresas privadas de países vecinos, incluyendo a la chilena Enaer y a la brasileña Embraer, y también para realizar tareas de mantenimiento en aviones de las recientemente nacionalizadas Aerolíneas Argentinas y Austral.
El Ministerio de Defensa puso el proyecto en manos de la Agencia Nacional de Desarrollo de Inversiones, encabezada por Beatriz Nofal, que estará a cargo de analizar otros usos para la fábrica militar, agregó Quatromo.
Plan to nationalize aircraft factory confirmed
The government is planning to take over the Airplane Military Factory in Córdoba, currently managed by US company Lockheed Martin, and modernize it to provide services for Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and other private companies, the Defence Ministry said.
Oscar Quatromo, head of the Planning Division of the Defence Ministry, yesterday told reporters on a radio interview that the governrtient will in the next few days send a bill to Congress, to authorize the Defence Ministry to purchase the Lockheed Martin shares in the second half of this year.
"This will be the first move toward the recovery of the Cordoba military aircraft factory. Once we take over the company, we will start a new process of modernization of what was once an icon of Argentine industrial development" Quatromo said.
The state has recently signed agreements with Lockheed Martin for the modernization and maintenance of Argentine air force planes, also resuming production of the Pampa advanced trainer, the official added.
Meanwhile,the government is currently engaged in negotiations to provide services to private companies in neighbouring countries, including Chile's Enaer, Brazil's Embraer, and also to conduct maintenance work on the airplanes of recently nationalized airlines Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral.
The Defence Ministry has handed over the project to the Investment Development National Agency, headed by Beatriz Nofal, which is in charge of analyzing other uses for the military factory, Quatromo added.
